Restaurant Review – Fuddruckers

Sometimes you’re craving a burger! And sometimes your burger craving gets a little funky- like when you want a burger topped with an egg, or peanut butter.  Or sometimes you want a burger made with wild mean free-roaming ruminants that are so primeval that they’ll sooner gore you as look at you.  Animals that aren’t cute and cuddly- animals that have it coming. That’s when you want to head to Fuddruckers.  With locations all up the coast and even in other neighboring countries, you can usually find one pretty close by.  I visited the location in Mira Mesa in San Diego.

There is a gas pump in the middle of the room, I’m not kidding.  There is an overturned boat serving as a dining table canopy.  The outdoor patio is covered and perfect for hyperactive kids.

Now you’ll notice upon walking in that this is not a normal burger joint- there’s a butcher shop on site where you can see all the freshly ground burger patties through glass, making this the perfect place to bring a vegetarian date for a good freak-out.  If she bolts, it wasn’t meant to be.  But if she stands tall in the face of raw ground up meat: its destiny, bro.

All of Fuddruckers meat is grass fed and hormone and steroid free, so even if you go for the plain old beef burger you’re getting an awesome meal that’s meaty, juicy and cooked to perfection.  But the more exotic choices and what makes this place completely unique are the exotic burgers.  Kobe, Boar, Buffalo and Elk! Mean ones, they pick out the angriest animal and hunt it, hunger games style.  These giant prehistoric things charge the jeeps and gore the hunters- wicked! These are some manly burgers.  They have a build your own topping bar with all fresh veggies and a vat of melted cheese so you can top your perfectly cooked elk cheeseburger with even more golden goodness.  These exotic meats are lower in fat, calories and cholesterol so your wife won’t give you a hard time, plus they serve them on a wheat bun to make you feel even healthier.

No, you don’t have to build a man-cave or slay a t-rex to be a man, you just have to get a wild buffalo burger at Fuddruckers.  Bring your buddies so they can marvel at how rugged you are…

For the more feminine diners they have chicken sandwiches and turkey and veggie burgers as well as a kids menu.  The fries are perfectly seasoned and they have a bakery right in the restaurant so you can stay in your seat and have a fresh ooey gooey chocolate chip cookie at the end.

There’s a reason Fuddruckers has been here for decades, and they’re not going anywhere, but you may want to come in and get an elk burger soon before we do to the elk what McDonalds did to the Bug-eyed New Zealand Hoki fish, drive it toward extinction with our meat lust.

I think we have a contender for the upcoming Food Fight Challenge for Best Burger…
