Restaurant Review: World Famous

WorldFamous

They’re big, they’re beachside, they’re World Famous.  That’s their name! World famous is their name.  And that’s clever calling themselves that because they get to tell everyone that they’re world famous.  That’s almost like me naming my show Best Food Show Ever…except that we actually are… That’s like these guys saying that they’re the premier beachside restaurant just because they’re closest to the water…and they do that too..

So:  they’re big, noisy, on the water, they have a bar… honestly I couldn’t think of a good reason not to go here and they invited me so there you go.  Actually the view is quite lovely, it almost takes your mind of the fact that your shoes stick to the floor.

They have a decent menu, featuring an imaginative brunch selection of benedicts, something I am always fond of, and Spicy Bloody Mary to boot, so win-win.

You get all types here from a family enjoying a little celebratory sit down with shirts that button all the way up to hung-over surfers with their pants all the way down…muddling through their glory days of getting dressed in the dark in 3 day old clothes that smell like someone microwaved a tumor…

World Famous has scrapples and omelets and hash, oh my..

If you’re in the mood for lunch they’ll serve that at the same time and they have fresh and zesty shrimp and crab martini that’s pretty hard to mess up.

The lunchy item that I really hoped I would have room to try was the nut crusted brie,  but alas, I had too many Mary’s and folks, sometimes that takes precedence over a deep fried brie.  I know, you never thought you’d hear me say it.

World Famous?  Maybe bus-stop adjacent is a better name.  But at least I only had to return breakfast once and when the waitress dumped a drink it mostly only got on my shoes. So I’d give this place a 6.  An ocean view that pretty normally gets you a 5 already.. Good thing they whip their own hollandaise. And that’s not a euphemism..

You can like these guys on Facebook, or be ambivalent about them in real life, you pick.
